Wine Specialist – Brussels

Then this is the job for you! About the Haelterman Group The Haelterman Group, based in Ternat, employs around 350 people and represents several well-known beverage distribution companies. These include HLS, Belgium’s largest independent drinks distributor, VA.S.Co, specialist in wines and spirits and distributor of Másalto coffee, and Carlsberg Importers SA. The group also markets its own brands, such as TAO and Bionina.

Vos responsabilités

For our Va.S.CO SA entity, specialized in wines, spirits, coffee, water and other quality products, we are looking for a Wine Specialist for the Brussels region. Your main responsibilities will include :  

  • You are responsible for managing and developing your portfolio of existing customers;
  • You actively prospect for new customers in collaboration with your colleagues in the region (cross-selling);
  • You maintain regular contact with existing retail customers and are attentive to their satisfaction and needs;
  • As an ambassador for our wines, you will advise and assist our customers in creating and optimizing their wine lists;
  • You explore the market to establish new contacts and are alert to new opportunities;
  • You will set up promotional actions in close collaboration with the Marketing team, and organize wine tastings;
  • You take part in trade fairs in the wine sector;
  • You ensure that you are constantly informed about new trends and developments in the sector and on the market;
  • You will manage the administrative and operational tasks related to the function (encoding of visit reports, management and follow-up of reports and results, management of promotional material requests with the Marketing department…).

Votre profil

  • You have a strong affinity with the hotel and catering industry and the world of wine;
  • You have a diploma from a hotel management and/or oenology school and/or other relevant training (Sommelier Conseil, WSET, etc.);
  • You preferably have your own contacts in the hotel and catering industry;
  • You are customer-oriented and have excellent communication skills;
  • You have a good knowledge of wine, grape varieties, important appellations, etc…
    Training courses on our wines are organized on a regular basis;
  • You have an excellent command of French and a basic knowledge of Dutch (a good knowledge of Dutch is an asset);
  • You are proactive and have the ability to identify and pass on your customers’ needs to your colleagues;
  • You have the ability to work in a commercial environment, you are not afraid of objectives;
  • You are dynamic and assertive and can work independently;
  • You have a good command of the Office Suite, and knowledge of a CRM (Salesforce) is a real asset.
